Bootlegger’s Brewery

Our founder, Aaron Barkenhagen discovered that his homebrewing hobby of 10 years could become a viable business while taking an Entrepreneurship class at California State University of Fullerton. He set about honing his business plan and pitched it to a class panel. Before long a small 1800 square foot building was leased and a 7-barrel brewhouse was purchased to build Fullerton’s first production brewery. In April 2008, Bootlegger’s Brewery opened and sold its first keg to a well known neighborhood bar in Downtown Fullerton.

As time went on, Bootlegger’s Brewery expanded and grew to distribute throughout California, expanded to a larger production facility, and established two tasting rooms, one in Fullerton, and the other in Costa Mesa CA. Throughout this growth, Bootlegger’s Brewery has stayed true to its homebrewing roots, brewing everything from classic styles to one-of-a-kind style bending beers while maintaining the highest possible quality.
